We’ve been privileged to work with clients in creating innovative models for living designing single family homes from the ground up, major remodels and additions as well as live-work spaces. More and more, we’re looking to design beyond the individual family unit to designing for multi-generational and multi-family sites. Longevity is the through line across all of the residential spaces we create in support of a multitude of futures.
ADU STANDARD PLAN - CITY OF LA
Design, Bitches was one of a select group of architects invited to be part of the ADU standard plan program launch by the City of Los Angeles. The program was created as a way to think differently about housing in Los Angeles and how individuals, architects and small businesses can contribute to housing density in a sustainable way. Pre-Approved ADUs can help speed up the permitting process and simplify some of the complexity of building a new dwelling in the city.
Our Standard Plan ADU design was included in the exhibition High Rise, Mid-Rise, Low-Rise, Housing in LA Today and is featured in Frances Anderton’s book “Common Ground: Multi-family housing in Los Angeles”
The housing crisis affects all of us and is changing the makeup of the city – as architects and designers we are using our experience and creativity to explore what is working and what is not working within the current system. Our unique approach to creating flexible living space and making the most of the entire lot positions us to be a part of this conversation, in which we see exciting new solutions and also the very real complications of high land/ construction costs and multiple layers of bureaucracy.
