Venice, Los Angeles, CaliforniaSuperba Food + Bread is the Adaptive re-use of an existing auto body shop revitalizing a stagnant corner of a vibrant neighborhood. It acts as a porous filter at a Los Angeles urban norm - the crux of a high voltage thoroughfare and quiet bungalow-lined neighborhood. Transformative in its locale, energy and function, it morphs from local coffee stop, bakery and meeting place by day into a sit-down restaurant at sunset creating a place to repeatedly pause: contained vagabondism.

Inspired by the paradoxical ugly beauty of Venice, we incorporated equal parts freaky and sublime within a neighborhood restaurant. The intimate dining area is an extension of the kitchen, where Southern California-centric elements combine to encourage a convivial atmosphere, reminiscent of hanging out poolside or by a campfire on the beach.
